Focus Weeks

One of the special things that children love about learning at Wellsprings is our focus weeks where the whole school has a shared aim for learning.

Fête de la Musique, June 2026

‘Fete de la musique’ celebrates not only music and performing, but also the rich cultural traditions of countries around the world.

We have a ‘poetry slam’ on Thursday 25th, which will be performed in front of the whole school (weather permitting!). The children will share their class poems, reciting them from memory.

Our instrumentalists will play in a special performance later in the week.

Linked to the focus week, the children will also perform their ‘class songs’ at the PTA Summer Fete, on Saturday 27th June.

Throughout the ‘Fete de la musique’ week there will be a range of in-school experiences, including flag making workshops, ‘boomwhacker’ music sessions, samba, dance and a whole host of other activities. Most importantly, we want children to enjoy and appreciate the power of ‘performance’. It’s going to be a great week!

Health and Wellbeing Week, May 2026

The week focuses on the '5 ways to Wellbeing' where we will look at a different aspect each day: connect, be active, take notice, keep learning and give to others.

MHST are running Understanding Emotions workshops for the whole school.

The RSPCA will visit Reception to Year 5 to talk about pet welfare and how we can best look after our furry friends to keep them happy and healthy.

Wednesday 4 March

The Big Book Swap: Please send your children to school on Monday and Tuesday with any good condition old books, and on Wednesday they can swap them for something different! Teachers will record how many books children bring so that they can bring home a similar amount.

2:30-3:00 Reading Journey Workshop: Please come along to find out more about how to support your child’s reading journey. This will include exploring the positive impact reading has on learning and development, how to help your child think more deeply about their reading, and simple ways to expand your child’s vocabulary. The session will include refreshments!

Thursday 8th March

World Book Day Assemblies

Friday 7 March

Dress Up Day: Children to dress up as an inventor or invention, or a character from their favourite book.

Please do not feel any pressure to buy anything especially for this day – the aim is to celebrate books, authors and inventors. Taunton Library is offering a “costume swap” where you can take in old costumes and swap for something new – and of course borrow a book to go with it!
